This is an area where we hope over time businesses of all sizes and sectors will be able to access practical business-developed tools and products, case study examples and videos. It will also allow you to make connections with other businesses and experts for wider help and support. Collectively this Marketplace will seek to help more businesses to better understand what tangible steps to take to improve performance.
Over the last year, seven groups of businesses have been working together to explore what practical action they can take on the ground to share learning and secure business improvements. This work has started to form this marketplace for business improvement. It aims to include ideas and practical tools, help, support and services to engage leaders, managers and employees. Whatever features here over time will be backed by businesses to provide the necessary assurance of the products’ independence, authority and value.
In practice, the Business Marketplace works by asking individual businesses a series of questions:
By using the various tools and products that will be housed within the marketplace, you will be able to gain a better understanding of how your business performs against each of those questions. You will also be able to use the tools and products that groups of businesses have collectively created to find solutions that work for you.
The final set of questions we want businesses to ask themselves when using this marketplace are: ‘now I understand where I need to improve, and what good looks like, how do I actually improve the performance of my business?’ and ‘who can I can go to for help to improve?’.

Our intention as we do so, is that more and more businesses will come forward and share tools and products they have developed that they think will be helpful to others. To achieve that, we need you to engage with the marketplace, to tell us what works and what doesn’t, and to put forward tools and products that you have developed yourselves that can be added to this site.
For now, we want you to think about the long-term potential that this marketplace has; with the right support and engagement from business, this marketplace could become the equivalent of TripAdvisor for business improvement tools and services. To make this happen, we need to start a productivity movement, where businesses are helping each other to improve.
